The Guitar Ensemble of the Beijing Conservatory

The at present probably best known Chinese guitar teacher - Professor Chen Zhi - founded this quartet in 2008 as a representative ensemble of the renowned Beijing Conservatory. Chen works more than 50 years as a guitar teacher and rendered outstanding services to the guitar in his country. No less than the legendary Los Angeles Guitar Quartet would play in honour for his jubilee. The international guitar world amazes the enormously high artistic level of Chen's students for more than two decades.

"Beijing Angels" followed an invitation to the USA in 2009, and in the next year went on a very successful performance tour in Japan. The concert in Velbert will be their European debut.

The quartet will perform on one hand demandingly arranged orchestral works from composers such as Bach, Schubert, Bizet, Liszt and Tschaikowsky, on the other hand contemporary compositions e.g. from Andrew York.
